The Ocean City School District (OCSD) recently presented six staff members with Staff Recognition Awards for going above and beyond to ensure all schools were ready to welcome back students and staff on the first day of school.
Congratulations to:
Nick Beese, head custodian at Ocean City Primary School
Anthony Johnson, custodian at Ocean City High School
Nick McClellan, head custodian at Ocean City Intermediate School
Andrew Nelson, director of facilities for OCSD
Felix Sanchez, custodian at Ocean City High School
Sean Silverman, custodian at Ocean City Intermediate School
“Congratulations to the staff members for receiving this well-deserved recognition,” said Dr. Brian Latwis, Superintendent of Schools. “Their exceptional efforts and diligence preparing the district’s buildings for a new year helped the first day of school go smoothly. We appreciate and value their hard work.”
OCSD administration nominated the honorees for their dedication, consistency, integrity, and heart. Dr. Latwis presented each recipient with a challenge coin.
OCSD Challenge coins will be printed each year with a new design
Challenge coins, which are a military tradition, are a new initiative at OCSD started by Dr. Latwis. Traditionally, their purpose is to instill pride, improve spirit, and reward hard work and excellence.
Ocean City Board of Education members Kevin Barnes, Jen Cawley-Black, Corey Niemiec, and Jocelyn Palaganas helped to celebrate these extraordinary staff members.
