Dear Ocean City families,
We are steadily moving toward our goal of appointing Ocean City School District’s next superintendent early this spring.
As we proceed, we are committed to choosing a leader who shares the priorities and values of our school community: providing exceptional educational opportunities, developing well-rounded, active students; and emphasizing character and citizenship.
The Board of Education advertised the superintendent position in professional forums over the last month. The job posting is now closed, and the full board has conducted preliminary screenings of the candidate pool.
The following timeline puts us on target to hire a highly qualified individual to lead OCSD beginning July 1, 2026:
Week of Feb. 23: The board screens the pool of applicants to identify candidates for first-round interviews. The board discussed the search process in executive session during a special board meeting on Feb. 26. No action was taken.
Week of March 9: First-round interviews conducted by board members
Week of March 16: Second-round interviews conducted by board members
Late March-April: Following the second round of interviews, the board will select the successful candidate and begin contract negotiations with the goal of approving OCSD’s next superintendent at the April board meeting.
By April 30: The board approves OCSD’s next superintendent and announces the appointment to the community.
July 1: Official first day of OCSD’s next superintendent.
Thank you for your partnership in making OCSD an exemplary place to learn and grow. We look forward to a new exceptional chapter!
Sincerely,
Kevin Barnes
OCSD Board President
