Dear Ocean City School Community,
Most superintendents dream of working in a district like Ocean City. We have robust support from community members, who genuinely value their schools and want to be a part of our students’ success. Our dedicated Board of Education works tirelessly to act in the best interests of our school community. Our students and staff are a daily source of pride.
I not only was fortunate enough to work for the Ocean City School District, but I will have the opportunity to close my educational career in this special place.
Through my time here, I forged meaningful relationships that I believe will have a lasting impact on our schools. I am proud of our work with the Ocean City Police Department, Ocean City Fire Department, Mayor Jay Gillian, the Ocean City Free Public Library, the Education Foundation and the PTA.
These partnerships allow students to explore learning experiences throughout our unique shore community.
Enhancing student safety and opportunities has been a top priority for me at OCSD.
We collaborated with the OC Community Policing Division on the development of an e-bike safety program. Working with the library, we secured a grant to start the SEA (Student Enrichment Access) program that provides engaging activities outside of the regular school day.
We were also able to work with our neighbors in Upper Township to negotiate a new send/receive agreement that solidifies our relationship for the future. This proactive approach was a result of our Board committing to complete a 2025 demographic study.
I appreciate the trust that our Board of Education placed in me to run our schools. I’ve worked with our administration to bring consistency to our purpose, and I believe that resonates across our three buildings.
I will turn over the reins with confidence and best wishes to Dr. Brian Latwis. OCSD can look forward to a bright future under his leadership.
