There is something special about the beginning of a new school year. Our hallways come alive again, classrooms are filled with anticipation, and our community comes together with a shared excitement for all that the year ahead will bring. 

As we prepare to welcome our students back for the 2026–27 school year, I am reminded of what makes our district so special: the people who come together each day to create meaningful opportunities for our students.  

Throughout the summer, our administrative team and staff have been working behind the scenes to prepare for the return of our teachers and students. Classrooms have been refreshed, buildings have been prepared, lessons have been planned, programs have been strengthened, and countless details have been addressed to ensure that our schools are ready. While much of this work happens quietly, it represents the dedication and pride our staff bring to their work every day. 

This year, you will hear us use the phrase “Anchored in Excellence” often. For us, it is more than a theme for the school year, it represents the foundation we want to build on for years to come. Being anchored means knowing who we are, what we value, and what matters most: our students and their success. At the same time, excellence means that we are never finished growing. We will continue to celebrate what we do well, look for ways to improve, and create new opportunities for our students and staff.  

Anchored in Excellence is about honoring our strong foundation while continuing to move forward together. 

Our students are at the center of that work. Whether they are entering one of our schools for the first time, returning to familiar classrooms, joining a new activity or athletic team, or preparing for their final year with us, each student brings their own hopes, talents, and goals to the new school year. We want every student to know that they are valued, supported, and an important part of our school community. 

Together, let’s make the 2026–27 school year a year of growth, opportunity, connection, and achievement.
