On Monday, our annual SOUPer Bowl food drive kicks off, benefiting the Community Food Bank of EHT. Each grade level has specific items to bring in to earn points. New this year, we are also partnering with the “Have a Heart for Veterans” drive. This initiative provides Valentine’s gift bags to Veterans, with a special focus on retirement facilities throughout South Jersey. To support this cause, we’ve added individually packaged snacks & candy for all grades.

Thank you to the PTA for an incredible fourth-grade field trip to Atlantic Fieldhouse! With the cold weather outside, it was wonderful to give students the opportunity to stay active indoors while practicing teamwork, respect, and positive sportsmanship. Our fourth graders did a great job encouraging one another and showing fair play throughout the day.

Due to weather and travel difficulties for our presenter, the “Don’t Press Send: Parenting in the Digital Age” presentation originally scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28 has been postponed. We are currently working to schedule a new date and will share that information as soon as it is confirmed. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to hosting this important event soon.

Each year, OCIS 7th and 8th grade students are invited to participate in the Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest, reflecting on Dr. King’s impact and going beyond their regular classwork. Two winners from each grade are selected to read their essays at the annual MLK Jr. Ceremony.
We are proud to recognize the four students below for their outstanding work and for honoring Dr. King’s legacy. In 7th grade, we have Tierney Kane and Randy Scarborough. In 8th grade, we had Leah Datti and Elena Marini.
🎉Congratulations to all! 🎉

Last week, our students visited the Pocono Environmental Education Center for three days. The center’s environmental education campus is located in Dingmans Ferry, PA, in the heart of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
While they were there, students enjoyed outdoor activities like hiking and participating in team-building activities. It was a great experience for learning, growing, and making lasting memories. Students and staff had an amazing time this year!
