Shoutout to our incredible PTA for making Teachers Appreciation Week extra special with their thoughtful gestures! Today's episode of our Friends celebration: "The Last One!" Teachers were treated to ice cream and water ice from Ken's ice cream truck, along with some extra surprises. Huge thanks to our amazing PTA for always going above and beyond to show their appreciation for the hard work our teachers and staff put in throughout the year.

The OCIS softball team played a great game yesterday against Jordan Road. OC came out on top with a final score of 14 to 3. Jalissa Legette dominated the mound, pitching 6 innings with 11 strikeouts. Marley Dwyer had a great game as catcher with 3 successful throw downs to get the out at 2nd and 3rd. Our defense was strong with notable plays by Cove Chew, Julie Costello, Skylar Hinrichsen, and Maddie Aragno. OC was strong at bat and on the bases with several RBI hitters and 10 stolen bases. Our next game is away at Upper Township on Monday. Keep up the good work girls! The baseball team got another win yesterday against Somers Point. Darrian Mayo had a great outing on the mound and Michael Stankiewicz took over after him pitching shut-out innings in the last 3. In a 4 to 4 tie game going into the 6th, the team rallied for 9 runs on a collective effort from everyone with the combination of smart base running, good at bats, and timely hits. In the end, the boys won 13 to 4 and moved to 3 and 2 on the season. They will look to continue this winning streak with 3 games next week starting off with Monday at Upper. After-school Sports for 4th and 5th graders has begun. Permission slips are needed to attend. 5th graders meet on Tuesdays, 4th graders meet on Thursdays. Hard to believe, but we're down to just two days left of our Teacher Appreciation Week Friends celebration! Today's episode: "The One Where They Go Shopping!" Our dedicated teachers received Target gift cards from our thoughtful PTA to show our gratitude.

OCIS celebrated the induction of 15 new 7th-grade members into the National Junior Honor Society on Wednesday night. These students showed commitment to scholarship in their 7th grade year to become members. A special thank you extended to everyone who contributed to the ceremony's success: OCHS NJHS President Jackson Barnes for his inspiring speech, our fantastic PTA for providing the ice cream treats post-ceremony, and our departing 8th-grade members for putting on an superb show.

MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS: Thursday, May 9, 2024 The boys' baseball team got another W yesterday. Moving to 2-2 on the season. Michael Stankiewicz got things going with his base running in the first along with hitting a 3 RBI base clearing triple later in the game. JR Dinsmore pitched a complete game with over 10 strike outs as the boys won 8-4. The season continues today with a game at Somers Point. Congratulations to the girls' track team for their win against Galloway Township yesterday. Cameran Curtis broke another school record, this time in the long jump. There were several other great 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes by the team to help secure the win. Way to go girls! Over the past few months, Chess Club players from grades 4 through 8 have been competing for the title of '23 - '24 Chess Club Tournament Champion. Yesterday, a winner was crowned. Congratulation to this year's Chess Club Tournament winner, 5th grader, Mason McElwee. Honorable mention also goes out to...second place and top ranked player of the year, 6th grader Keegan Ruskoski, third place, 5th grader Nico D'Intino, and 4th-grader Rocco Rosetti for the most club wins throughout the year with 18. MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS Wednesday, May 1, 2024 The softball team played hard yesterday in a game against Northfield. The game ended in a tie but there were some great plays in the field and strong at bats. Jalissa Legette controlled the mound, pitching 7 innings with 14 strikeouts. Jalissa was also a threat at the plate with 4 hits and a 3 run RBI in the top of the 7th that set OC on top. Marley Dwyer put some runs on the board with her aggressive base running and stolen bases. Kendall Barnes hit an RBI single in the 7th inning to keep the fight going. Jayda Serrano held down the outfield with a critical catch in the 6th inning. OC ended the game with 9 runs on the board.
